Mission: [MAIN] From The Ashes
Location: Sick Bay
Timeline: Current

The doors of the infirmary opened and in walked Azusa Nakano. She rested her hands on her rounded out belly as she stopped at the reception desk. "Excuse me, is the Chief Medical Officer available. I'm new here so need to be cleared by them."

The medical secretary was a petite humanoid woman with a white streak in her dark blonde hair. "He has nothing on his schedule at this time. If you proceed into Bay 2, bed 4 I will send him a message to attend you. "

"Thankyou," Azusa said giving her a small bow. She then proceeded towards the doors. She then stopped and turned back. "Erm... so how do I get there?"

"First doorway on the left, bed 4 will be on the right hand side. " she gestured at the appropriate doorway behind her station.

"Thanks again." She then proceeded through the doors into the medical complex. Luckily it was quiet and she found where she needed to be rather quickly. She managed to hop up onto bed four where she sat waiting patiently.

A soft chime sounded at the door to announce the approach of the doctor. Victor himself entered quietly, and the biobed awoke at his entrance. "Good morning."

Azusa nodded at the doctor. "Good morning doctor," she said in response. She had never heard a chime to indicate the arrival of the CMO before, she wondered if it was a 'Starbase thing'.

A gentle smile hovered at his lips, and he inclined his head slightly to her. Her medical records began to display on his screen, and his eyes flicked to them. "My assistant says you need a newcomers approval for duty, is that correct?"

"Indeed I am. Azusa Nakano, new Chief of Operations," she introduced herself. "Plus one in the making," she added.

"So I see. Developing nicely I see as well. " He marked in the computer to take fetal monitoring and measurements as well. "You are welcome to see an OBGYN. If you'd prefer to see a specialist. Otherwise, we will set a schedule with the general team, so you can meet them all before you deliver."

"This is my first time, so I guess... Whichever is available?" She replied. "The baby is half-betazoid. I was told to expect the pregnancy to be closer to ten months due to that."

"In that case I will put you on the roster of Dr. i'Hartelhai. She is a resident, but is studying hybridization and also is one of our stronger empathic doctors. I believe her abilities will serve you well in the delivery. "

Azusa nodded. "How is the baby in the meantime?"

" allow me to shift the focus slightly." The doctor adjusted where the scanner was, and and a rendering of the child within her belly was visible on the screen." Do you wish to know the gender of the child?"

"Its a boy right?" Azusa asked. "I have a strong feeling it's a boy. After all, the baby is half Betazoid. I swear I can 'sense' him sometimes."

"Yes, it is a boy. However if you're sensing him already all the more reason to get a telepathic a doctor to assist. It could just be the maternal Bond, establishing itself." He paused a moment to make a note before continuing to speak" I've heard that occurs even in the un-gifted in the mental Arts, but I don't want any surprises."

Azusa nodded. "I think it's more that he's sensing me." She said as she ran a hand over her bump. "He has the Betazoid genes after all. So, is he doing OK in there?"

"Yes, he looks like he is very healthy. " he flipped the monitor so she could see . The babys heartbeat traced along the bottom of the screen. He was sucking his thumb, calmly resting inside her.

"Thats good to know. Is it true that Betazoid/Human pregnancies last upto ten months?" She asked. "I feel huge now, and its only week twenty six."

"They can, it depends a great deal on the fetus and which species he favors more in the growth curve. There are some calculatable variables but i would need to review your chart in much more detail to offer you a better idea of precise due date. " he didnt want to speculate without at least laying eyes on her growth curve.

"I see..." Azusa said. "Is there anything I should be doing? I eat healthily, bathe every night and try to get enough exercise."

"I am going to alter your nutritional supplement just slightly. And split it into two doses take one in the morning and one at night with your meal. You are not at first glance doing anything wrong nor do you need to adjust your current working parameters as long as you're not having symptoms. Any itching?"

Azusa shook her head. "Not really," she replied with a smile.

"Glad to hear it. Sounds like right now, you are doing as well as a person who is 24 weeks pregnant can be doing." He offered a little smile in return, ma notation on the PADD he carried. "I'll get you slotted in to the appropriate specialists, in the meantime...if anything bothers you feel free to come back. I'd say you have a clean bill of health at this moment and are fit for duty."

The young engineer nodded. "That's good to hear. Thanks Doctor." She replied with a smile, a hand resting on her belly. "I'm hoping to be here for quite a while."

"Its a good place to make a home, it seems." His voice warmed to that thought and he found he genuinely meant it. It was a refuge for him, and he found it a comfort.

Azusa smiled as she slid down off the biobed. "Well, I best get settled in. Thanks for your time."

"It was my pleasure. I'll see you again I am sure." He nodded to her and took the PADD with her information on it with him when he left through the now unsealed door, to dictate a chart report. He'd also send her file through to Dr. i'Hartelhai.

Azusa gave him a polite bow before making her way through the doors and out into the corridors.
